Get Organized Now!
When it comes to traveling with an infant, many parents struggle. What to bring, what not to bring, too
much stuff or too little.  But travel, whether it’s an overnight trip or a week-long vacation, doesn’t have
to be stressful.  You just need to spend a little time planning – because after all, planning is organizing,
and organizing is all about planning!

Before you start stuffing suitcases, ask yourself these questions:
  • How long will I be gone?
  • What is the climate at my destination?
  • Will there be laundry facilities at my destination?
  • Will I have access to a store where my usual baby products are sold?

All these questions are important, because they will influence what – and how – you pack.

Next, assemble what you need. It’s good to lay everything out on a bed or table so you can see exactly
what you have, and nothing gets lost in a suitcase.

What you’ll definitely need:
  • Diapers: disposables are always best for travel, unless you’ll have suitable and accessible laundry
facilities at your destination. Choose biodegradable, eco-friendly diapers if possible.
  • Undergarments: Onesies, undershirts, diaper covers. You’ll need 2-3 changes per day of travel
    (unless you're washing).
  • Clothing: 2 outfits per day is usually a good estimate. Choose clothing based on the climate you’
re traveling to, but it’s always smart to bring one extra outfit for extreme temperatures.
  • Sleepwear: One set per night of travel.
  • Baby products:  Sunscreen is always a must. Also pack shampoo, soap or baby wash, baby lotion,
and your usual diapering kit. Replace any products less than half full with new ones. Also a good
idea: natural baby aromatherapy or a natural homeopathic sleep aid, to help your little one get
to sleep in a strange environment.
  • Accessories: one towel per 2 days of travel, flannelettes, two travel blankets, changing pad, your
usual diaper bag, carseat/carrier, a stroller (unless you plan to rent, which may be easier if you’re
    flying), toys, books.

What you might need:
Warm climates
  • Sunscreen (always!)
  • Beach umbrella to provide shade
  • Swimsuits,
  • Waterproof diaper covers
  • Sun hats
  • Baby sunglasses (look for 100% UV protection)
  • If you’re spending a lot of time at the beach, you might consider taking a collapsible playpen
suitable for outdoor use, so you never have to worry about baby crawling into the surf.
Cold climates
  • Sunscreen
  • Extra hats
  • A waterproof snowsuit
  • Mittens
  • One extra heavy blanket
  • Cocoa butter or shea butter cream to prevent windburn and chapping.
  • If you’ll be spending a lot of time outdoors, look for natural air-activated hand warmers like
HotHands; you can place them inside baby’s snowsuit for added warmth (they’re also great to
keep in the car for road trips).

Now, you're prepared for your vacation!
